Building new databases

In addition to extending the traditional database query model via LinkedQL, new database engines have to be built from scratch to extend what the basic idea of a database can mean. A ground-up database engine is the surest way to fundamentally shape what comes next for databases.

Oxford's work here includes:

01Database

FlashQL database

A local, embedded database engine that implements the full LinkedQL contract, and more. FlashQL is a transaction-first, MVCC architecture, with its own query planner, and with full support for federation, and online and offline sync. Persistence is a pluggable addition when needed, supporting options like Redis, IndexedDB, and more. It is designed from the ground up as an application primitive — unlike traditional embeddable databases like SQLite and PGLite.
